Travels Through Burgundy
Paintings by Margaret Loxton with a Forward by Alan Coren

The paintings are the product of a gentle journey made by Margaret Loxton through the Côte d'Or, a wine heaven.
Travelling by bicycle, she was able to observe the timeless ritual in which men, women and children harvest the grapes on sunlit hillsides, and in a series of strong, brilliantly colourful compositions she has captured the movement and gossipy camaraderie of the harvesters as they work their way laboriously along the immaculate rows of vines.

Previously Issued Prints

Margaret Loxton's first collection of limited edition prints, Burgundy Vineyards (set of 4),
was launched in 1988. Margaret Loxton's work illustrates her love of France and its inhabitants,
coupled with an ability to capture the serious nature of wine production in a humorous way.
Burgundy Vineyards were an instant success and were followed by scenes of Rural France in
1989 (set of 4).

Further editions were launched over the next few years which included Burgundy Villages (set of 4),
Provence (set of 4), which coincided with the Peter Mayle book 'A Year in Provence',
The essence of Provence (set of 6 - 2 large/4 small) and A Celebration of France
(set of 6 - 2 large/4 small), all of these editions sold out.

Chateaux Bordeaux (set of 4) was launched during 1994 and was closely followed by
Masters of the Vintage (pair). One new edition of prints, Tuscany (set of 6), was launched in 1997
which sold out extremely fast.

Since August 1998 we have launched Brittany Harbours (pair), Village France (set of 4), a second set
of prints from Tuscany (set of 4), two further pairs of Masters of the Vintage, a second set of
Chateaux Bordeaux (set of 4), Lavender Pickers, Gathering Lavender, Luberon, Honfleur,
and three scenes from the Dordogne and many more, which are still currently available.
All are selling well and we have plans to continue publishing prints by Margaret Loxton for many
years to come.

About the artist
English to the core yet inspired by France, Margaret Loxton began painting seriously after her family had grown up. Within the space of three years she had won the Painting Prize at the 1984 City of London Festival. In 1986 she exhibited her work in several of France's major museums including the Musée Fabre, Montpelier, where her work was highly praised by the media. Her work is much sought by private collectors throughout the world, and previous limited edition prints of her work have sold out.
